Football A to Z

FOOTBALL A TO Z: A Guide to the Game through its Language

              Knute Rockne - circa 1928

What the heck is "MOFO"?  Or "stemming"?  Or "setting the edge"?  The language of football is as rich and colorful as it is descriptive.  It can also be confusing so that many coaches -- most especially coaches new to the game -- need a translator.  That's where we, at CSI, come in.

We developed Football A to Z just for this situation and it's our version of Football 101.  What we do is huddle around a whiteboard and translate football terminology into simple English so that, in an hour or two, your rookie coaches -- or any coach for that matter -- can acquire
a lifetime of knowledge of the tactics and strategies that form the game.

The result is that, armed with this valuable information, your new coaches can function confidently as they grow more rapidly into competent teachers.

The course is broken down into three sessions and your coaches can choose to enroll in any one or all three:

. Period 1: Offense
. Period 2: Defense
. Period 3: Special Teams, Common Rules and General Subjects

On completion of the course, your new coaches won't morph into Urban Meyer's or Bill Walsh's, but they will know more football coming out of the class than they did going in.  And that's good for your program and for your players.  Below are some of the subjects we discuss:
